Let’s Talk Back Up Plans

You’ve planned your big day for months and months.  Every detail is thought out and you are ready for everything to go off without a hitch.  But have you thought of a back up plan for your outdoor ceremony?  As much as we don’t like to think about things going wrong with weather, the weather does what it wants.  It is important to create a back up plan if you are planning on having an outdoor ceremony.  Having a back up plan will help you to wake up on your wedding day (whether it be sunny or rainy) with zero stress and truly prepared for anything.  At Sycamore Farms, we have multiple back up plans in case weather ends up being an uninvited wedding guest.

Most brides choose our lovely island for their ceremony.  But since the island is uncovered, when it rains the ceremony must be moved to one of our covered options: our sycamore veranda.  When you hold your wedding ceremony on our sycamore veranda, your guests still get to enjoy the picturesque views of our lake, fountains, 100 year old sycamore tree and our sweet bridge.

If your wedding day ends up being unseasonably hot, a great back up plan is to move your ceremony under our giant sycamore tree.  Enjoy the shade as you say your vows.  This location makes for great photos, too.

Did you know that our lakeside veranda is enclosed and heated in the winter months?  This makes it a great spot for a ceremony, especially since you won’t have to flip the indoor area from the ceremony set up to the reception layout like you have to do for most winter weddings.

Our main hall is a stunning ceremony location, especially during the coldest months.  If you are concerned about flipping the ceremony set up to the reception set up, one idea we like is to have your reception tables set up in the back half of the room and simply take the ceremony chairs away from the front half of the room to create your dance floor.  Quick and easy room flip.

Creating two ceremony layouts is always a great idea when you are planning on an outdoor ceremony!  The peace of mind on your wedding day will make it all worth it.
